Episode: "Return to Cutter Gap" Broadcast week of Nov. 19, 2000 The First " Christy" movie in the series of three is "Return to Cutter Gap," This series of movies opens with Christy Huddleston as an old woman, recounting to her daughter tales of her youth in early 20th century Tennessee. There is great concern that the outside world will threaten the community of Cutter Gap and its lifestyle. When a free-spirited woman aviator named Harriet Quimby flies in, she turns the community on its ear. This modern woman is refreshing and thrilling for Christy but after a series of robberies occur, Christy is pitted against the community and is blamed as the source of the crime spree. To make matters worse, Harriet is competing with Christy for Dr. MacNeill's heart. Christy becomes dispirited and contemplates returning home to North Carolina, but reconsiders. Even as Christy struggles with her future, she becomes enamored with the dream of having the first of her students attend college and medical school.
